The Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship program at the Cornell University Medical Center
is an intensive training program to prepare an individual for an active career of clinical care,
research and teaching. Fellows spend their first six months gaining extensive clinical
experience in both the private practice offices and the clinics at the Hospital for Specialty
Surgery. With over 2500 annual outpatient visits and over 175 annual admissions and inpatient
consultations at both New York Presbyterian Hospital and Hospital for Special Surgery,
there is extensive experience in patient care for virtually every childhood rheumatic disease.
In the second and third year of fellowship clinical experience continues with
weekly juvenile arthritis and childhood lupus and related disease clinics. The remainder of
the time is devoted to research experience under the supervision of one of Hospital for
Special Surgery's many famous investigational rheumatologists. There is one fellow at each
of the three years of training.
The Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship is fully accredited for training for certification
by the American Board of Pediatrics sub-board in Pediatric Rheumatology.
All of the past graduates have gone on to rewarding academic careers in major medical centers.
