Care Medicine State-of-the-art treatment is available for acute respiratory failure, congenital heart disease, diabetic ketoacidosis, life-threatening infections, severe asthma and trauma cases. Medicine We are dedicated to provide outstanding emergency care for all children with a variety of medical illness and traumatic injury. We provide compassionate care in a dedicated, pediatric facility, equipped with the most sophisticated state-of-the-art technology in a nurturing and child-friendly environment. Endocrinology Treatment is available for childhood hypertension, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, diabetes mellitus and disorders relating to bone minerals and metabolism, thyroid, growth and development, puberty and sex differentiation. Gastroenterology Areas of special interest include childhood liver disease, disorders of malabsorption and malnutrition, gallstone formation, ileitis and ulcerative colitis. Genetics Using a multi-disciplinary approach, The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center's medical genetics program offers a comprehensive range of clinical and prenatal genetic, diagnostic, counseling, laboratorv and treatment of individuals and their families who have or are at risk for genetic disorders and birth defects. Available prenatal services include amniocentesis, chorionic villi sampling and diagnostic ultrasound. See Human Genetics for more information. Infectious

Health Neonatology The Division offers care for neonates with apnea, central nervous disease congenital anomalies (heart, bowel and renal disease), metabolic and respiratory disorders and neonatal infections. See Perinatology/Neonatology pages. Nephrology Treatment is available for acute renal failure, glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome. Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are also available. Neurology Treatment is available for coordination problems, epilepsy, migraines, learning disabilities and mental retardation. Rheumatology Treatment is available
for arthritis, dermatomyositis, lupus and scleroderma in childhood.
