The Program

The Residency Program in Adult Psychiatry at Cornell accepts 10 residents into the PGY I year through the “match.” Two additional resident are accepted to enter in the PGY II year. The four-year training program is organized around an advancing sequence of clinical experiences in a variety of settings. Clinical work is accompanied both by individual supervision and by a 4-year series of didactic seminars. Research education is integrated into the program at every level of training. The Cornell program has been organized to allow for the maximum amount of elective time consistent with outstanding clinical training. This mentored elective program is designed to promote the development of each resident’s capacity for empirical investigation and scholarship.
