Application Process

Application to the Neurology-Psychiatry Combined Residency Program occurs through the general neurology match. Applicants considered to be strong candidates for the combined program will be scheduled to meet with faculty and residents of the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the Division of Neuropsychiatry.

  • application to the Neurology-Psychiatry Combined Residency Program occurs through the general neurology match
  • applicants to the Combined Neurology-Psychiatry Residency Program may apply simultaneously to the General Neurology Residency at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital (and elsewhere), if so desired
  • if the candidate is also applying to general neurology residency programs (at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital or elsewhere), his/her application statement should be geared toward this purpose
  • in addition to submitting the standard neurology application via the neurology match, candidates for combined residency training should email the people listed below, and provide them with the following information:
    • your intention of applying to the neurology-psychiatry combined residency program (as well as the general neurology residency program, if applicable)
    • a description of your interest in combined training, as well as any relevant background or training
    • if you have obtained letters of recommendation that are more relevant to combined training than to general neurology training, you may also inquire about submitting these
