The Division Rheumatology

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology provides complex and comprehensive diagnostic services for children with rheumatic diseases and related conditions. These conditions include:

-juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
-psoriatic arthritis
-juvenile ankylosing spondylitis
-spondyloarthropathies
-other forms of childhood arthritis

The division faculty also specializes in the care of children with:

-systemic lupus erythematosus
-juvenile dermatomyositis
-scleroderma
-morphea
-polyarteritis nodosa
-systemic vasculitis
-Wegener's syndrome
-Bechet's syndrome
-Sjogren's syndrome
-Takayasu's arteritis
-Henoch Schoenlein Purpura

In addition to our expertise in these well defined rheumatic syndromes, we provide care for children with a variety of related musculoskeletal syndromes such as:

-Lyme Disease
-Kawasaki Disease
-uveitis (requiring immunosuppressive therapy).

Other areas of expertise include:
 
-Parry Romberg syndrome
-myositis ossificans
-idiopathic multifocal osteomyelitis
-reflex sympathetic dystrophy and many others.

With the support of the full resources of New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell campus) and the Hospital for Special Surgery Department of Orthopedics, we are happy to accept the referral of children with complex musculoskeletal conditions whether or not a firm diagnosis has been established. These include limb pain, fever of unknown origin, and "sed rate" of unknown origin.
