The
clinical services of the Cornell Institute of Geriatric Psychiatry
are designed to treat older adults with mental health problems.
The services provide individually planned programs of care.
Psychiatric, psychological, medical and neurological treatments
are offered. Treatment is provided by experienced multi-disciplinary
staff who are committed to caring for the elderly population.

offer stress management, relapse prevention, independent
living skills groups.
- There
is ongoing communication and collaboration with referring
clinicians

of Care

Outpatient Practice |
Group
therapy, brief psychotherapies, medications, medication
follow-up.
Family consultation, assistance in obtaining social support
services. Consultations with family physicians to coordinate
an overall treatment plan. |
| Partial
Hospitalization Program |
| This
short-term program is intended to avert hospitalization.
The program specializes in the rapid stabilization of active
symptoms associated with psychiatric illness, and the reacquisition
of functional skills in psychological, social, family and
vocational areas. |
| Older
Adult Inpatient Program |
| Offers
brief, intensive hospitalization for elderly psychiatric
patients who have concurrent medical illness, disability
or cognitive impairment. |
