 he Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, founded in 1971, specializes in the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders. The department, recognized as one of the nation's leaders in lumbar spine care, also maintains a highly regarded residency program for the training of future specialists in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
 The program consists of 6 faculty member attending physicians and approximately 70 physical and occupational therapists, on site. Specialized hand therapy is also available within the department.
